A Gentle Answer
A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.—Proverbs 15:1 NIV
Next time you are tempted to speak harshly against
another who has hurt you, stop for a moment. Is the
problem as serious as you’re making it? Will your words
improve the situation, lead to a solution, or only show
your anger? Whatever you say, be compassionate and
caring. Set your mind on mending the relationship.
Keep me, God, from stirring up anger. Help me use words that comfort and heal.
