Today's daily devotion

All by Myself

God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.”—HEBREWS 13:5–6 NIV

Feelings of isolation often accompany caregivers. Hours spent in a sickroom away from friends are draining; helplessness sets in when we feel as if no one really understands the situation; abandonment issues arise as our loved ones draw away from us. Life can become very lonely.

When you sense the symptoms of loneliness, combat them with God’s Word, praise, and prayer. Scripture states that God will never leave us—He sent His Spirit, the Comforter, to be at our side 24/7. That means during those empty early-morning hours, as sleep is elusive, you can call on Jesus. He cares. He understands. His friendship is perfect. He won’t let you down. There is no separation from the Holy Father.

Call on Him now. Feel His presence. You don’t need a special place or a magical posture to find Jesus. He’s standing at the door, waiting for your signal. Look up. Welcome Him today.

Don’t be alone anymore.

Dear Lord, You are more than an abstract figure in the Bible—You are Abba Daddy. Wrap me in Your presence this day. Become real to me. Assuage my loneliness as only You can do.
