Does Anyone Hear?

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.—ISAIAH 65:24 KJV

Pam hurried out the kitchen door with her to-do list clenched between her teeth. As she slid behind the wheel of her car, she wondered how she could accomplish everything. With an eight-to-five job on weekdays, Saturday was supposed to be less structured—a time for laundry, housekeeping, groceries, and maybe, just maybe, a little time for fun. Fun? Pam had almost forgotten that word.

Pam’s cell phone interrupted her thoughts. What now? She sighed.

“Mom,” her 17-year-old daughter said, “could you pick up that book on hold at the library for me? And don’t worry about dinner—I’m making the Crock-Pot recipe we talked about yesterday. Stay as long as you need and give Gram a hug, okay?”

Pam smiled as she pulled into the nursing home parking lot. She and her mom could have an unhurried visit now. In fact, with dinner taken care of, she just might have a few minutes for some fun at the mall.

It’s true. Sometimes God does answer before we call!

Dear God, You are the perfect Father, seeing and meeting my every need. Thank You for providing rest, relief, and recreation.
