Don’t Faint!

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.—PROVERBS 24:10 KJV

Those of us who are long-term caregivers know all too well the great temptation to faint. We are finite creatures who do not have inexhaustible supplies of strength and energy, and some days—maybe even every day—there are times when we just want to quit.

We are truly weak, and our strength indeed is small.

But in this we can rejoice!

This is because we have an all-powerful God who can supply what we lack. We can glory in our infirmities, Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12:9, because God’s strength is made perfect in weakness.

This is one of the paradoxes of the faith: When we are weak, then we are strong.

In those times that you have no strength in yourself, rest in the fact that the Father knows your situation, knows your dusty frame, and knows exactly what He wants to accomplish in your life. Then praise Him for the work He is doing. Soon you will discover that the joy of the Lord is your strength—and you’ll be able to continue.

Let His strength flow through your weakness today.

Father, show Your strength through my weakness today so that those who see my feeble works will glorify You.
