Change Your Life for the Better

Trust the God who never changes (Psalm 55:19) to help you change your life for the better.

Everybody at one time or another has been faced with an unsatisfactory situation. You may be faced with one now. You may even be questioning if God is really good and loving and powerful.  Well, he is all of these things—and more. Nahum 1:7 assures us, “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows them that trust him.” You can depend on God no matter what your circumstances. He knows you personally and cares for you deeply.

The first thing to do about an unsatisfactory situation is to take a good long look at it and pray and ask God to guide you about it. Take a real look, not a cursory one. And don’t take a negative look; take a positive view.

Believe that your unsatisfactory situation contains at least a grain of good. It has to, because God is good. He is your strong tower in a day of trouble, and he knows and loves everybody who trusts Him. So start hunting around in that unsatisfactory situation of yours. Ask Jesus Christ to guide you. You will find some wonderful thing.

Of course, it is a fact that some unsatisfactory situations cannot be changed. Some you must just live with. But—and here is the important fact—you still can change how a situation affects you. Look at the Apostle Paul. His life was far from perfect! Time and again he found himself in difficult and perilous situations: he was beaten and shipwrecked, imprisoned and misunderstood. Yet his only question was, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).

Paul had grasped the great truth that “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God” (Romans 8: 38-39).  It is through God’s grace that you overcome obstacles, that you change what is wrong with your life into something positive and promising. God tells us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Every problem has the seeds of its own solution. The only thing that can really beat you, really keep you from changing your life for the better is a negative and defeatist attitude.

Trust the God who never changes (Psalm 55:19) to help you change your life for the better.
