5 Ways to Help Military Families Get Kids Back to School

5 ways to help military families get their kids back to school.

Deployment orders are ramping up as our service men and women are once again being sent to help around the country and the world. That means more military families—full-time and reservists—are facing additional challenges both financial and emotional.

Moving from a two-parent family to a single-parent situation is tough. It’s even harder when this comes right in the middle of the back-to-school anxiety that many kids—and families—are already coping with. But that’s where our faith community can help.

We can search out the military families in our area with offers of help. Just as God promises to equip us, we can help outfit them:

1)  Sponsor a back-to-school drive for school supplies.

2)  Offer gift cards and donations for school clothes.

3)  Pitch in with car pool duties.

4)  Help with tutoring.

5)  Chaperone extra-curricular activities.

None of us lives in a vacuum. We all face times when we need help. Right now, it’s our military families who need our support.

And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35, NLT)
