Out of all the holidays and special remembrances that have to do with the military, I believe that Children of Fallen Patriots Day (May 13) is one of the most difficult. As hard as it is to learn of that one of our brave soldiers has paid the ultimate price, it’s even harder to consider the children they leave behind.
As a country, we have a duty to these children. They have become casualties of wars they often can’t even comprehend. It’s vital that we reach out to them and their families, surrounding them with love and support.

There are several organizations that can use our help—with time as well as money. Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors offers special camps, mentoring, and other assistance for these youngest heroes. The Fallen Patriot Fund also provides assistance and scholarships.
Beyond that, we can reach out to families in our communities. There are thousands of kids in our country today who have lost a parent to war. We can help these families when we take the time to seek them out. Today, spend some time in prayer, asking God to show you how you can be a positive influence in these young lives.
