In the military, it’s often said the uniform makes the man or woman. Truthfully, it’s the training.

As believers, we are also soldiers but we serve in the army of God. How well we respond to the situations that take us by surprise is determined by two things:
1) How well do we listen to our Commander? God is the one who determines our steps and directs our paths. No matter what situation we find ourselves in, He promises to guide us.
2) Have we kept up with our training? God has equipped us to face adversity. But we consistently have to spend time reading the Bible and getting to know more about the character of God.

The situations we face won’t always be life or death, but that doesn’t give us an excuse to be unprepared. God is giving us what we need to cope with the crises to come. It’s up to us to decide how we’re going to react.
