My mother was an awesome woman of faith. She chose a college where she could be the first blind student just so she could blaze a trail. She traveled by bus from Chicago to California, where she met and married my father. She was widowed young and raised two children on her own. And when a spinal-cord injury robbed her of the ability to read her Braille Bible, she still thanked God for all He allowed her to go through.
