Love Is in the Air with the New Forever Stamp

The U.S. Postal Service reveals a new stamp and it’s all about love. The new Love Skywriting Forever stamp is a recent addition to the Love series that USPS has come to uphold. A skywriting event was held in California to replicate the stamp’s cloudy jet streamed letters – just in time for Valentines Day.

Love Skywriting Forever Stamp

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the United States Postal Service released a new Love stamp – The  Skywriting Forever stamp featuring the word “Love” in a white jet stream script produced by a small airplane in a blue sky as it zooms underneath the word.

USPS celebrated the new stamp with a ceremony in Chino, California at the Planes of Fame Air Museum that was live streamed on Facebook. The event included Skytypers CEO and Squadron Commander Greg Stinis replicating the image on the stamp in the sky for all to see.

The experienced skywriter has done over 2,000 skywritings, mostly in block letters, but found this one to be the most challenging “because the letter ‘L’ is three times the size of the others,” and the writing is in cursive. However, video from the event shows Stinis’ work went off without a hitch.

The skywriting stamp continues a long USPS tradition of Love stamps that date back to 1973, bridging the miles between family, friends and lovers through the mail. “From the moment they’re spotted on an envelope, these miniature works of art foretell good news,” USPS Chief Operating Officer David Williams says.

“And with this particular stamp, we can really say, once and for all, that ‘love is in the air’ — and in the mail.”
