Hi, it’s me again, Edward from Guideposts. I’m back out on the Appalachian Trail with Gracie. And here she is, if you can see her. Gracie, say hello. There you go.

We’re hiking up East Mountain towards a spot called the Ledges, which is a really special, beautiful spot and a place that Gracie loves, though she sometimes gets into the mud if I don’t watch her.

This is a perfect April spring day, full of light and brightness—the kind of day, back in Michigan, when I would have cut my afternoon high school classes, though I probably shouldn’t be admitting that. But it is… after a long Michigan winter, it was understandable.

You know, we’ve been hearing a lot—or I’ve been hearing a lot—over the weekend about the week that we are entering, the couple of weeks we are entering, which are said to be a very, very dark time. Our surgeon general called it “the Pearl Harbor of our generation,” and that’s probably going to be true.

But I feel that we’re…the country is like we’re on a great seagoing vessel, and we’ve come through some very, very rough waters. But we’re about to enter a dark and gloomy fog bank in which we cannot see the other side, and it’ll be frightening and even disorienting.

But I know that there’s an end to that fog bank. We will come out the other side together and intact. And what will light us through that gloom is the light of our souls together and the light of our faith. There is a horizon, and there’s a brighter day for us. And it’s coming—soon, I hope—but it is definitely coming.

Okay, that’s all for me. I think Gracie wants to get going, so let’s see a final shot of Gracie. There you go. All right, bye until next time.
