There are few greater pleasures on those long days of summer than a good book. Here are 7 picks from our editors you're sure to enjoy!

Summer reading list from Guideposts Books

We asked our fiction editors to recommend some can’t-put-it-down reads for the long, sunny days of summer. We hope that you enjoy these books  as much as we do. There’s nothing like a good read on a gorgeous summer day!

Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn, by Evangeline Kelley
This delightful three-book series is ideal for reading at the beach, at the cabin or anywhere, especially with an ice-cold glass of lemonade. It tells the story of three very different sisters who reunite on Nantucket and open a seaside inn in an old colonial house. I loved the evocative setting, the adventures of the sisters and their friends, and the heartwarming story of family and faith with an intriguing historical mystery as a backdrop. —JON WOODHAMS, Associate Editor, Guideposts Books

Gone South, by Meg Moseley
This book was just recently released, and it’s what I’m most excited to read this summer. The story follows two women, outcasts in their small Alabama town, who are drawn together and discover a deep friendship and mutual path to healing. From what I hear, there’s a delicious romance involved, as well. —JESSICA BARNES, Editor, Guideposts Books

Jane Austen Ruined My Life, by Beth Pattillo
I love Jane Austen’s work, and this fun and entertaining novel inspired by her is one of my favorite summer reads. Smart, romantic; I can definitely relate! —LENORE PERSON, Editor, Guideposts Books

The Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins
Collins is known as the inventor of the “sensation novel,” a style of fiction that would later give rise to the detective, mystery and suspense genres. The Woman in White features a plot full of mystery, romance and intrigue—not bad for a book written in 1859. —RACHEL MEISEL, Editorial Director, Summerside Press

Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska, by Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss
This wonderful story, featuring not one but two romances, is about a singer on the cusp of stardom who looks up her old fiancé on a remote island in Alaska (nice to imagine being there when the temperatures really get hot here!). By reading a stack of old letters, she becomes immersed in the story of an early missionary and his mail-order bride. —SUSAN DOWNS, Fiction Series Editor, Guideposts Books

Love Finds You in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, by Pamela S. Meyers
The lakeside setting in a lovely resort town outside of Chicago is perfect for this 1930s-era story about a woman who works at the local newspaper and is passed up for promotion in lieu of the son of a major newspaper magnate. Things heat up when she has to find a way to work with him in order to uncover a local scandal. —SUSAN DOWNS, Fiction Series Editor, Guideposts Books

Sweethaven Summer, by Courtney Walsh
What could be a sweeter summer read than a book called Sweethaven Summer? This novel about the strong bonds of friendships between women and the joy of scrapbooking together is a vacation just waiting to be read. —STEPHANIE SAMOY, Managing Editor, Guideposts Books
