In her latest book, Finding Grace, Donna VanLiere shares her true story of “losing your way in life…and finding it again.”
You may know VanLiere from her popular Christmas Hope books (and the TV movies made from them). Like that series, Finding Grace is beautifully written, but this is a much more personal tale.
VanLiere recounts how her childhood innocence was stolen from her by an act of violation, and how her life’s struggles always come back to that first terrible pain. With humor, insight and the help of scripture, she describes her self-discovery as a writer and as a woman of faith.
But the most poignant arc in Finding Grace is VanLiere’s journey to motherhood. For anyone who’s ever struggled to have a child—or anyone who can empathize with that struggle—her accounts of fertility treatments, raised expectations and dashed hopes will certainly ring true.
Without revealing too much, let’s just say that the story of how she did become a mother is truly inspiring.
Finding Grace is a quick read, but it’ll be slow to fade from memory.
