Sit-down dinners were a nightly tradition when I was growing up.
This time of year we told stories around the table in between spoonfuls of Mom’s Simple Chili. Serving it to my own family makes me feel warm inside.
Ingredients
½ c. water | 2 med. onions, finely chopped |
1 Tbsp. butter | 2 lbs. ground beef |
1 can tomato soup | 1 large can chopped tomatoes |
2 cans kidney beans, drained | 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce |
1 Tbsp. chili powder | 1 tsp. paprika |
1 Tbsp. chopped parsley | 1 tsp. salt |
1 tsp. pepper | Shredded sharp cheese |
Sour cream |
Preparation
1. Put ½ cup water into large pot. In saucepan, brown onions with butter
2. Put browned onions into large pot. Brown beef in saucepan. Drain and add to large pot with onions.
3. Add soup, tomatoes, beans and Worcestershire to the pot. In bowl, mix spices together and then add to pot.
4. Cook for one hour. Top each portion with cheese and sour cream.
