Why wait for the delivery person to bring a generic pie that lacks pizzazz? No pizza tastes better than a homemade pie, with the fresh and healthy toppings of your choice.
Ingredients
5 c. all-purpose flour | 3 cloves garlic |
2 T. sugar | 1 t. Italian seasoning |
2 (¼-ounce) packages active dry yeast | 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce |
1 t. salt | 4 c. topping ingredients (optional) |
2 c. warm water (about 105° to 115°F) | 4 c. grated mozzarella cheese |
¼ c. canola oil |
Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. Stir together flour, sugar, yeast and salt in large bowl.
3. Make a well in center of flour mixture and add water and oil. Stir till combined.
4. Coat your hands in flour to prevent sticking and spread half of dough onto an 8×14-inch rectangle in the center of each of 2 large ungreased baking sheets.
5. Peel and finely chop garlic.
6. Stir garlic and Italian seasoning into tomato sauce.
7. Spread half of sauce on each crust.
8. Spread topping ingredients over sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella.
9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
Makes two 8×14-inch pizzas, six slices each.
