Spiced Pumpkin Butter

For so many of us, autumn is synonymous with the enticing flavor of pumpkin; this spread will soon become a family favorite in your house.

Spiced pumpkin butter

This spread is delicious on toast or licked right off the spoon!

Ingredients

1 29-oz. can pure pumpkin puree ¾ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 ½ c. apple juice 1 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 c. granulated sugar  

Preparation

1. Combine all the ingredients in a large heavy pot, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

2. Reduce the heat to very low and simmer for 1 hour, stirring the mixture every 20 minutes to keep it from burning.

3. Serve warm or cold. Store in a seal jar for up to 2 weeks.

Makes 4 cups.
