Do Cats Need Feline Companions?

I’d love to hear from all of you cat lovers!

If you’ve been reading our blog, you know that my 7-year-old female cat, Mimi, lost her litter-mate and brother Lubya last July. Mimi wasn’t herself for about two months, but she’s settled down; she’s less skittish, more friendly and talkative.

But I feel badly about leaving her alone for 10 to 11 hours a day while I’m a work. Still, when I think about looking for a companion for her, I worry about how she might react to a new member of the household.

My vet has said to get a younger cat and not pay much attention to it until Mimi “adopts” him or her.

I’d love to hear from all of you cat lovers about your experiences bringing another kitty into a single-cat household.
