Debbie Shelkey-Lawson: The Friendly Fruit Bowl

Since the apples have appeared, I’ve had a request for bananas.

We’ll see how my “family dinners” resolution will work once all my teenagers have something after school every day.

Jacob has started high school varsity soccer practices every day and Eileen has started working at the YMCA as a lifeguard and Kenley’s soccer practices start on March 21st. (Two afternoons Kenley has jazz band practice after school and piano lessons another day.)

Corey will be home next week for spring break from college so it will be fun to have everyone home. To help with the revolving door at home, I’ve placed a big bowl on the kitchen table full of apples. Since the apples have appeared, I’ve had a request for bananas. My husband said it was nice to be able to grab an apple on his way out of the door. Some days, he skips lunch so I’m glad he could grab the apple. Today is one of those days.

I need a happy comfort meal for everyone this evening especially since we are getting drenched with all these thunderstorms today. Grilled cheese and tomato soup? Navy bean and ham soup? Cheesy potato soup with garlic bread?
