On October 8, 2014, I was excited to get an opportunity to photograph the total lunar eclipse. I knew I had to get up super early, well before the sunrise.
The weather forecast was a little discouraging because clouds were in the forecast. I did not know if I would be able to see the moon rising because of the clouds but decided to try anyway.
I went to a location where I thought I could best see the moonrise over the horizon, set my equipment up and waited. It was cloudy, but I was hopeful. I texted another photographer who was also trying to photograph the eclipse, and I asked him if he was seeing anything. He also said it was cloudy were he was.
The beautiful colors in the clouds from the sun rising behind me caught my attention. The colors were gorgeous, and I enjoyed photographing them. I also photographed weeds in a field that were backlit from the sun.
Instead of having a bad attitude, packing my gear and heading home, I decided to make to make the best of the situation. Life does not always bring us what we want. We do, though, have a choice about our attitude.
What are you doing with your “cloudy” days? Are you focused on the negative or looking to find the good in the situation?
In everything give thanks!
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thess. 5:18, KJV)
