“If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands!” There’s something to that old childhood ditty. When you hear a song you can clap along to, don’t you immediately get happy? I do! Sometimes I even break out into a little dance. (Embarrassing but true.)
Even if I can’t actually clap my hands at that moment—like when Florence + the Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over” came on in spin class last night—I definitely get a positivity boost.
In fact, I was so inspired, I put together this playlist I’ve been thinking about ever since I saw this post on the same theme by Grace Bonney at Design*Sponge, whom I’ve come to admire not just for her fabulous eye for design but also her awesome taste in music. She has 10 great picks on her list (I particularly like T Rex’s “Bang a Gong” and Tom Petty’s “American Girl”).
My playlist is nowhere near as quirky and original as Grace’s (I read somewhere that she was a DJ on her college radio station and it shows) but I think you’ll have fun with it anyway. Have a listen. And let me know what your favorite hand clapping songs are.
Happy (or maybe that should be clappy) weekend!
