Living is one thing; thriving is quite another. If you plant a tree but neglect it, it will wither or become stunted. It’s the same for human beings. We need to be cared for in body, mind and spirit so that we not only survive but thrive! And that’s what this blog will focus on: Ways to reach your greatest potential, find happiness and contentment, live a healthy active life and turn life’s difficulties into opportunities to learn something about yourself; in short, to grow strong and happy.
Here are some resources that I’ve found to be useful:
1. Guideposts.org, of course. Each and every day, you’ll find inspiring quotes, stories, videos and blogs to nourish your spirit and your mind. So bookmark us, sign up for our newsletters and use us to help you grow!
2. John Maxwell. This former pastor is now an international motivational speaker and author. I find his columns in Success magazine and his blog filled with useful info to help you achieve your goals in life.
3. DarynKagan.com Daryn is a former CNN anchor who, when her contract was not renewed, decided to do what she loved: report positive news and that’s what you’ll find every day on her website. Check out her story, which was published in Guideposts magazine.
4. Advice from a Loser by Julie Hadden. Julie was the first runner-up on Season 4 of The Biggest Loser having dropped almost 100 pounds. Her blog on Guideposts.org tells it like is: the small victories, the tips to keep the weight off and a voice to cheer you on so that you too can achieve your weight loss goal.
5. HealthyJourneys.com Here I’m going to shamelessly shout out a good friend and colleague, Belleruth Naparstek. Belleruth has produced closed to 60 guided imagery tapes for various health conditions including cancer, diabetes, Multiple Schlerosis, stress, insomnia, obesity, and many, many more! But her passion these days is helping returning vets with post-traumatic stress disorder. Her tapes have been researched by credible hospitals and health centers, with solid results.
