Trusting God

As the tides are rolling in and out of our lives and the waves are crashing in, are we letting it erode our faith? Trust in God, he’s is in control.

Trusting God

Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island, Georgia, is an amazing place for photographers. In an earlier post, I wrote about seeing Christ through His creation while photographing there.

I also wrote about some of the technical aspects of my photography and included a sunset photo taken on Driftwood Beach, but I did not write about the place itself. The name comes from the beautiful trees lying on the beach because of erosion.

I wasn’t really planning on going to the beach this particular day. My intention was to photograph birds on a trail adjacent to the beach. When I heard the roar of the waves, which did not sound typical, I changed my mind.

Instead of photographing a “normal shot” of just the driftwood, I decided to try something different. The waves were big, and immediately I thought of photographing a long exposure shot. I put dark filters on my lens so I could keep the shutter open for 30 seconds while I photographed the waves coming in and out around the tree. Making a long exposure shot makes it look like fog, but the effect is from the waves.

As the tides are rolling in and out of our lives and the waves are crashing in, are we letting it erode our faith? Remember the Lord is in control, even of the sea!

You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them. (Psalm 89:9, ESV)
