If you’re like me, you might feel a bit blue the day after a holiday. A bit blue and a bit bloated–all that Thanksgiving baklava comes at a price!
But have no fear, there’s still much to be thankful for even after the last crumb of pecan pie has left the table.
Here’s my list of what I’ll be thankful for the day after Thanksgiving…
1) No more turkey.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not a huge fan of turkey (despite the fact that I’m Turkish…I know, it’s very confusing). So I’m thankful that there’s a whole year until I feel the need to eat sleep-inducing food again.
2) Summer.
Yes, summer. It’s now one day closer.
3) Winter coats.
I often make fun of mine and compare it to a wearable sleeping bag. But it’ll be keeping me warm all winter long. And for that I am truly thankful.
4) Christmastime, of course!
A wonderful time to reflect, spend time with loved ones and eat sugar cookies every day at 2 p.m. without anyone judging you too harshly.
5) Getting things right next Thanksgiving.
Thank God for do-overs! I’m thankful for the chance to perfect any recipes I messed up this year at next year’s Thanksgiving.
6) Your old routine.
Once the holidays are over, I always find it’s so nice to return to your normal routine. A good reminder that your days don’t have to be filled with tinsel and sugar cookies in order to be wondrous.
7) New Year’s Eve.
Ah, yes, the holiday I despise the most. But I’m hopeful that this will be the year that New Year’s Eve and I become close acquaintances. And for that miracle-in-waiting, I am thankful.
8) Past blessings.
I experienced some tough times this year, but also many blessings that I could’ve never imagined.
9) Constant blessings.
God, my family, my friends. These are some of the constants I’ll always be thankful for.
10) Future blessings.
I don’t know what God has in store for me this holiday season or in 2017. But I’m thankful in advance for the joys and surprises headed my way.
