Disney just debuted the first trailer for the highly-anticipated fantasy-drama, A Wrinkle in Time, and it’s as magical as we hoped it’d be.
The film is based off a book of the same name by beloved author Madeleine L’Engle, who served as a Sunday school teacher and worked as a librarian at Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York City for nearly thirty years. Her novel follows a young girl named Meg in search of her missing father, a scientist being held captive by dark forces.
In the newest look at the upcoming film by acclaimed director Ava DuVernay, three main characters, Mrs. Whatsit played by Academy Award-winner Reese Witherspoon, Mrs. Who, played by Mindy Kaling, and Mrs. Which, played by Academy Award-nominee Oprah Winfrey, take center stage. The ladies are actually supernatural beings sent to help Meg, her younger brother, and her school-friend search for her father, Dr. Alex Murry (Chris Pine).
The latest clip is packed full of stunning visuals and otherwordly adventure as the children travel through space and time, encountering friends and foes on their quest to save Dr. Murry, and, possibly, the universe. Check it out below.
A Wrinkle in Time opens in theaters March 9th, 2018.
