Hey, “Guideposts.” I’m Devon Franklin, president of Franklin Entertainment and co-author of my new book, “The Wait.”
I’m here to talk about my brand-new film that I produced called “Miracles from Heaven.” “Miracles from Heaven” is the incredible true story of Christy Beam. She wrote a book as a mom about her struggle to find healing for her daughter, Annabel. Her Annabel gets sick, and she gets this incurable stomach condition.
Her mother, Christy, fights for her healing. She will not rest until she figures out what is going wrong with her daughter. God steps in and produces the greatest miracle that they had seen, and probably that we have seen in a very long time. And from the day God stepped in to now, Annabel in real life is healed.
We were so thrilled to be able to get Jennifer Garner in this film. She is, you know, obviously, the uber movie star. We sent the script to her. And she read it. And the next thing you know, we got the call. She wants to do it. So we were all incredibly excited.
And Kylie Rogers’ performance of Annabel in the audition was so powerful, Jennifer starts to cry for real. And we knew not only was this the right bond of actor and actor, but the right bond of mother and daughter. And the first day Jennifer shows up on set, I mean, just her dedication, her devotion, her kindness with everyone on set.
It wasn’t just– she didn’t just show up and perform a role. She was an ambassador of kindness, an ambassador of compassion. And her bringing that kind of tone and demeanor to the set really helped set a fantastic tone that allowed the emotionality of the film to come through.
So having her in the movie– when you see her performance, there are some moments that even now I’m at the edge of my seat, especially that moment when she’s like, you know, to the doctor–
I’m not leaving this hospital until I know what’s wrong with my daughter.
Powerful. I mean, we were– I mean, literally, I remember being on set, and that scene was being shot, and you just had chills because of her commitment and her devotion to make sure that she got that part right. “Guideposts,” it has been so awesome to be with you today. I just want you to know, I’m not going to even say your miracle’s on the way. Your miracle is already here.
