[MUSIC PLAYING] Hi. It’s Rick Hamlin. This is Psalm 109. “I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth. Yea, I will praise him among the multitude.”
That’s really at the very end of this Psalm. This Psalm goes through all sorts of angry moments. Anger at enemies, at our oppressors, anger of all of the bad things that seem to be happening. And then at the end of it, “I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth.”
You know, it’s a reminder. God is a God of the physical. It’s not just this spiritual realm, but it is the physical. “My mouth.”
Well, when I was reading this Psalm, I was going through some tough times. Still very much worried about my father’s health and the family, and my own health. And there was a Sunday morning service, and I greatly praised the Lord with my mouth.
It felt good just singing at the top of my lungs– singing through a whole service. It was something physical with my mouth. Not just in my head, but with my mouth, with my heart, with my lungs, with my body.
I needed that. It was as healthy as going to the gym. It should be on all of our regimens.
“I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth.” And with the multitude– with my community. Make that part of your worship– part of your day-to-day life. Psalm 109.
