“They will call to Me, and I will answer them. I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.” (Psalm 91:15, NLT)

Psalm 91 has been informally referred to as the Warrior’s Psalm for thousands of years. It’s amazing to see that these Bible verses are as relevant today as they were in years past. The language might be slightly archaic, but the symbolism remains strong.

In this Psalm, the author acknowledges God as the One who protects those in deadly situations. He reminds us that God is there when the enemy plants hidden traps and deadly diseases. I find peace that God is watching out for the one I love.

It goes on to remind us that God’s truth is our shield and protection. During these days of relativism and reinterpretation, it’s comforting to know that God’s truth stands throughout eternity as a wall of protection.

The Psalmist helps us remember that God is able to protect us—and those we love—while the battles rage all around.

For military families, it’s the truths like these that bring the greatest comfort when our loved ones are in harm’s way. In my Bible, the Psalms are the most marked up portion of Scripture. During the darkest hours of our son’s deployments, it was the book of Psalms that brought me the most comfort.

When life is overwhelming and the battles rage, dig deep and let God hide you under His feathers and bring the peace you crave.
