Prayer is a powerful force for good. At Guideposts, we believe in the strength of prayer to bring comfort, hope, and healing. Your generous donation today will help us continue to share the power of prayer with those in need. Together, through prayer and support, we can make a difference.

Have you ever prayed and prayed and prayed about a situation, a person, a need, or a dream and still have not seen an answer to your prayers? Perhaps you have been hurt again and again by someone who never changes no matter how hard you pray.

Or maybe you’ve prayed over and over for financial breakthrough, yet you still live with the threat of losing your home every month. When it seems as though our prayers have gone unanswered for a long time, we may feel like giving up or becoming upset with God or losing heart instead of standing strong in the waiting time.

Have you ever been mad at God because your prayers were not answered? Someone might respond to that question by saying, “I have been upset that nothing ever changed with a situation I prayed for over a long period of time, but I wasn’t mad at God.”

The truth is if you are upset because your prayers were not answered, then you are upset with God for not answering those prayers. Believe me, I know what I am talking about here. I have been there and done that. And I found that the only way out of that frustration and bitterness and loss of heart is through praise.

Every time I start to become impatient about the lack of an answer to a particular prayer, I stop everything to worship the Lord as the all-knowing, all-powerful God of the universe. I praise Him for being faithful and trustworthy.

When I praise God, it becomes easier for me to recognize my sin of doubt and disappointment so I can confess it. Worship helps me recognize that God is greater than any of the things I am praying about.

It helps me trust that God has heard my prayers and will answer in His way and in His time. It helps me release that situation to God and trust Him for the outcome. It gives me renewed faith to believe again.

When we praise God at the first sign of disappointment and loss of heart, He will open our eyes to the truth and help us see things from a perspective closer to His own.
