Sometimes praying for a soldier at war can be overwhelming.
There’s just so much we want to cover, to make sure they’re covered. Today I’d like to share the list I use when I pray for our military men and women serving in harm’s way:
Wisdom
Making good decisions is something we all struggle with, but when our choices could have life-and-death consequences, the pressure to choose correctly increases exponentially. That’s when having God’s perspective can give us the confidence to move forward with the hard job ahead.
Strength
Strength comes in many forms: physical, mental, emotional. God can equip the ones we love to triumph over incredible circumstances, no matter whether what obstacles lie in their paths.
Faith
Trying circumstances can deepen our faith–or destroy it. When we remain focused on God, a stronger faith is the result, and that’s our prayer for those who serve.
Protection
This world can be a scary place, especially when a loved one is serving half a world away. God can provide the protection we can’t.
Peace
Peace can be elusive, even in the ordinary routine of everyday life. Peace in the middle of a war zone is unthinkable–until we turn to God–then it settles joyfully over our minds and hearts.
Those Close to Him
No soldier fights alone, and it’s often those serving with him who can protect him. When we pray for those surrounding our loved ones, we increase the coverage that keeps them safe.
This is my list; now I’d like to know what you’d add. How do you pray for your soldier at war?
Blessings,
Edie
