God Never Changes

Many people do not want to accept change; they fear the unknown. We cannot always know what lies ahead, but we can trust God.

Prayer is a powerful force for good. At Guideposts, we believe in the strength of prayer to bring comfort, hope, and healing. Your generous donation today will help us continue to share the power of prayer with those in need. Together, through prayer and support, we can make a difference.

For I am the Lord, I do not change. (Malachi 3:6)

Change is inevitable. My computer requires me to change my password monthly. Once I make that change, I also have to change it on my smart phone and iPad. If I decide to skip a step in the process and fail to make the change to all devices, I am locked out.

The unwillingness to make changes in our lives can work in much the same way. We lock ourselves out of opportunities for growth. We can find ourselves out of sync with those who are moving in a different direction while we remain the same. Many people do not want to accept change because they fear the unknown. We cannot always know what lies ahead of us, but we can trust the God who goes before us.

I was reminded of how unsettling change can be as I thought about the many times our family has moved from one state to another. When my oldest daughter was growing up we moved five times because of my husband’s job. I understood that change was necessary, but I always felt uncomfortable having to meet new people and learn new cities. While change can be exciting, it is also daunting.

The only thing that we can count on in life that will not change is God. He declares of himself that he does not change. That gives us the confidence to know that no matter how crazy our lives get, he is always and forever the same. He is perfectly aligned with himself and we can always be in sync with him. We do not ever have to fear being locked out.

When you are going through changes, I want to encourage you to stop and think about the one thing in your life that is still unchanged: your God and your relationship with him. Every time we moved, the one thing that was constant was the ability to pray to God, knowing that he could hear me whevever I was. My life was changing and my relationship with other people and places was changing, but my relationship with God remained the same. I am glad that God is always available.

My prayer point challenge is to ask you to sync up with God. You will never be locked out and your password will never expire. The password is faith and that is what moves God anytime, anyplace and anywhere.

God bless you!
