How to Appreciate Simple Moments of Grace

Look for simple blessings.

Look for simple moments of grace daily.
Prayer is a powerful force for good. At Guideposts, we believe in the strength of prayer to bring comfort, hope, and healing. Your generous donation today will help us continue to share the power of prayer with those in need. Together, through prayer and support, we can make a difference.

Too often we take the simple but beautiful things in life for granted–a warm sunny day, the colorful spring buds in bloom, a random act of kindness by a stranger. These are all moments of grace that God has blessed us with. And when we stop and take a moment to enjoy these blessings, our perspective on life can change in a positive way.

Sometimes we ask ourselves, where is God? I believe God is everywhere we are. We just need to pause so that we don’t miss out on His many blessings. It is easy to take them for granted, but if we see them as moments of grace, we have the power to shift how we see God in our everyday lives.

My friend, Enrique, recently traveled from Florida to New York to visit his parents and experienced a moment of grace that he will never forget. He wanted to spend time with his father who is living in a nursing home at the age of 90 and suffering from dementia.

Some days are good, others are not. On this particular occasion, his father was having a good day; he recognized him and began asking questions about his trip. This made Enrique very happy and grateful to have his dad present with him at that moment. Unless we stop and take in these moments as God’s grace in our lives, we miss out.

What has been a moment of grace in your life? Please share with us.

Lord, help us not to take Your presence and moments of grace for granted.
