[MUSIC PLAYING] Did you know that a grateful person is a happy one? You see, when we have a spirit of thanksgiving and our mind is grateful for all the things that we have, it impacts our moods, our emotions. It prevents from negative things, like resentment, envy, jealousy taking over us.
So, matter of fact, researchers say that when you are grateful, it helps you overcome stress and other challenges in your life. One of the great ways to cultivate a grateful mind and grateful spirit is to jot down the things that are positive in your life, the positive events, people, places that you enjoy.
And you could do it on a notebook, on your journal. Or you could do it on a tablet or the computer. My list includes, I’m happy for my wife of 34 years, Elba, my two children Paul and Christine, happy that we had a wonderful vacation this summer, excited about where Paul and Christine are doing in their lives, happy that I’m here, and grateful that I’m working at “Guideposts” and doing this ministry.
But as you begin to jot those things down, it elevates your moods and your emotions. And you begin to feel happy as you remember the positive people and things in your life. Psalms 103:2 says that “Praise the Lord and not forget all the things that God has done for us.”
That’s one of the great blessings about having a grateful heart. We begin to think about all the blessings that we have received from the Lord.
So I challenge you on this Thanksgiving, and not just Thanksgiving, but every day, to jot down the wonderful blessings you have received and all the positive things in your life, and see your emotions and your spirit become a happy one.
Happy Thanksgiving. And enjoy the blessings of God. Be happy, for God has blessed us with so much. God bless.
