Give Yourself a Life Audit

“I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”—Romans 12:1 (KJV)
The busyness of daily life can rob you of reflection and fulfillment. Don’t get caught in the trap of running from place to place without spending time to think about where you are going and why. Today, take a moment, slow down and think. Review your priorities in life and ask God for insight and guidance. Are you in the center of His will or have you let other things crowd Him out?
Dear Lord, align my life with Your purpose.

Make Every Day Count

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”—John 13:34 (NIV)

Do you ever feel at the day’s end that you didn’t accomplish half of the things you wanted to? No matter what you get done, if you take the time every day, to do one thing, one simple gesture, that shows another you love them, really, truly love them. You’ll know you’ve made a difference.
Dear Lord, today and every day, I will take time to love someone with intention.

Say His Name

And this is His commandment: We must believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us.—1 John 3:23 (NLT)

There is great power in speaking Jesus’ name. When you are going through a difficult time or feeling alone or frightened, simply say His name and repeat this verse, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10). Feel His peace and know that He is with you.

Lord Jesus…

Judge Less, Love More

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.—Proverbs 3:3 (NIV)
Everyone knows you can’t judge a book by its cover, yet sometimes rushed judgements are made that aren’t backed up by the right information. The next time you are about to place a negative label on someone, stop for a moment and look for the Christ in them. See the good and extend a kind word.
Lord, help me choose loving thoughts. Guide me to compassion and away from criticism, so that I may walk humbly beside You.

Hope-Filled Living

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.—Romans 15:13 (NIV)
Are you worried about the outcome of a situation? Take a moment and shift your thinking. Instead of justifying your fears by wrongly believing that your worry will somehow control what will happen, truly put your faith in God. Replace your stress with the hopeful power of the Holy Spirit.
Dear Lord, because of You I can be full of hope no matter what circumstances or outcomes lie ahead.

The Lighter Side

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.—Job 8:21 (NIV)
Laughter and joy are great sources of strength. When you choose to see the humor in a situation by looking to the lighter side during dark times, you discover that you can find joy even in the midst of trouble.
Heavenly Father, You are the Light of the lighter side. Fill me with Your joy so that I smile easily and laugh out loud.

Satisfy Your Spirit

For behold, the kingdom of God is within you.—Luke 17:21 (AKJV)

Do you find yourself thinking that if you only had this or that you’d be happy? Don’t confuse spiritual yearnings with material wants. Instead, build your faith, spend time in prayer in communion with God.

Father, speak to me in Your still, small voice.

Sing God’s Praises

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.—Psalm 40:3 (NIV)

Our struggles, our successes, even our failures—these are not our song. God is our song. When you make time for Him, putting your faith first—you experience a new song, a new way of life, a symphony of His beauty.

Heavenly Father, help us to live joyously, to celebrate the song in our heart and rejoice always.

The Good Life

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.—Psalm 118:24 (ESV)

Sometimes we concentrate so hard on making a living that we forget to live. Don’t become so absorbed with making ends meet and the problems of life that you miss its possibilities.

Lord, help me to separate the wheat of life from the chaff.

When Uncertainties Arise

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.—Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)

When difficulties arise, Christ can help you. He can be a steady foundation through changing situations and emotional ups and downs. If you are feeling awash in a sea of uncertainty and self-doubt, look to Him for help.

Steady me, Lord, when I waver and take my eyes off You.

How to Handle Heartbreak

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.—Psalm 147:3 (NIV)

Elisabeth Elliot wrote , “Repeatedly throughout our lives we encounter the roadblock of suffering. What do we do with it? Our answer will determine what we can say to another who needs comfort.” No one knows all of the answers or why things happen, but we can choose to trust God in every situation and always look for the good.

Lord, help me through times of sorrow and please reassure that my struggles are preparing me for the future.

Freedom from Your Past

On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”—Matthew 9:12–13 (NIV)

Is something from your past bothering you? Is something that you did or didn’t do haunting your thoughts? Pray, believe in Jesus’ forgiveness, and close the door on all those things. Jesus is more than capable of setting you free from your past.

Heavenly Father, I am worthy of being Your child. You are ready to heal me and help me to let go of yesterday so I can be my best today.
