God Knows Best

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.—Revelation 3:20 (ESV)

Prayer is a personal conversation with God. Your words, your feelings, your conversations with Him are based on the unique and blessed relationship that continues to grow the more that you pray.

Gracious God, I know that you long to hear even the smallest issue that weighs on my heart—and I acknowledge that You know what is best for me.

God’s Love

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.—John 15:9 (NIV)

When you need encouragement that God really loves you, turn to the book of John. John was called the one whom Jesus loved. The Gospel’s message is that Love is the redeeming power which is available to all who turn to God. As people of faith we can spread His message and His love.

Lord, show me how I can spread Your love here on Earth.

As Long As It Takes

“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”—Acts 1:4-5 (NIV)

The Book of Acts begins with Jesus telling His disciples to wait. Sometimes when we are waiting for a gift from the Holy Spirit the waiting is the most important active part. Waiting is sometimes more difficult than doing anything—it takes faith and patience. When you’re in a period of waiting, turn to the Bible and be assured your faith will be rewarded.

Heavenly Father, I will wait on You for as long as it takes.

Watch and Pray

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”—Matthew 26:41 (NIV)

Jesus knows your struggles. He has the ability to help you overcome and conquer any temptation that you face. When you are in a challenging situation, be mindful of this Scripture. Watch and pray.

Mighty God, help me keep my eyes open and focused on You. Help me avoid the situations that put my self-control at risk.

God’s Purpose for You

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”—Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

Just as God told Jeremiah the above beautiful verse, the same is true for you. God knows you just as intimately—and has unique plans for your life.

Heavenly Father, when I feel alone or that my life lacks purpose, guide me back on track and put me in tune with your plans.

Cultivate Harmony

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”—John 14:6 (NIV)

Do your best to follow the example of Jesus Christ. Use the Bible and His teachings to help you lead a happy and fulfilled life. Miracles happen when ordinary people serve an extraordinary God.

Dear Jesus, I will follow You in my thoughts and actions. I will turn to You for guidance and live in the consciousness of Your presence.

What Is Your Mountain?

“Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.”-Joshua 14:12 (NKJV)

In the verse above, Caleb was confident that with God’s help he would be able to take the mountain territory. Each of us has mountains in life to overcome, but if we ask for God’s help to quell our fears, we can rise to the challenge.

Father God, I’m ready to bravely conquer the mountain ahead.

God Is Leading You On

For we live by faith, not by sight.—2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)

This verse reminds us that when you are confused or blinded by an unwelcome change in your life, instead of getting bogged down by the past and how your situation could have been avoided, turn to your faith. Remember that even in the darkness, God is leading you.

Heavenly Father, I trust that today and every day is a gift filled with Your blessings.

When You Are Afraid

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.—Psalm 34:4 (NIV)

Fear can be the basis of selfishness. When you feel threatened, do you turn inward and hold on tightly to what you have? Instead of recoiling against the world, turn to God. See the value in reaching out to others. Be brave and kind.

Mighty God, no matter what I face, I know that nothing is impossible with You at my side.

Open My Eyes

And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.—2 Kings 6:17 (NIV)

When you need to get the big picture or the truth about a given situation ask God to open your eyes to what is happening—and to guide you to the right decision or in the right direction. Trust that He can transform your confusion into clarity, your fear into opportunity.

Lord, when I don’t know what to do, open my eyes so that I may see.

Free Yourself from Sin

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.—Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)

When Jesus told His followers to pray “Forgive us our sins” he was addressing our need for cleansing ourselves from guilt and the negative feelings that happen when we know we’ve done something wrong. If you are holding onto your misdeeds, pray for God’s forgiveness and then forgive yourself.

Heavenly Father, when I confess my transgressions You graciously provide me with the peace of forgiveness.

The Future Awaits

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.—Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)

Are you excited about tomorrow? If you find yourself feeling the blahs of day-to-day living, try something new. Pray for the energy and guidance to move forward— to learn a new hobby, volunteer where you’re needed, adopt a pet that needs a home. The time to do something new is now.

Lord God, I have no idea what you have in store for me, but I am excited. The future awaits!
