God Is Working for Your Good

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.—Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Whatever is weighing on your heart, God invites you to pour out your problems to Him and let His love in. Quiet your mind and listen for His guidance as He fills you with the warmth and radiance of divine love. Know that God will somehow work things out for the best.

Dear Lord, prayer is the doorway through which I recognize that each day is a gift; help me to see the good.

Lose Yourself in Prayer

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.—Matthew 6:6 (ESV)

When you are having a rough time, invite God’s glorious presence into your heart. As you shift your focus beyond your personal problems, you’ll find yourself capable of not only handling your own circumstances, but able to support others who also face similar struggles.

Dear Lord, You are the source of all good! When I lose myself in prayer, I find abundant blessings.

Unconditional Grace

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.—1 John 1:9 (NIV)

Jesus is always at work in our lives but because we are human and have free will, of course there are days, months, or even possibly years that we would like to edit or maybe even erase completely. Fortunately, God’s grace does exactly that. He allows us to forgive ourselves, to view our past with compassion and understanding and to be grateful for every day we have lived.

Lord, Jesus, help me to release the fear of taking responsibility for my past actions—guide me to wholly and completely accept the grace of Your forgiveness.

Be a Source of Joy

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.—Romans 15:13 (NIV)

Without a doubt, this year has been difficult with unique challenges, disappointments and fears. Yet, when you reflect on the present you can see how God’s grace helped to pull you through. God is always with you, leading you through difficult times and creating opportunities that will enrich your life.

Heavenly Father, in this holiday season, help me to bring joy to others.

Light in the Darkness

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.—John 1:5 (NIV)

Jesus reminds us that He is the light of the world. When problems or difficult feelings entangle your heart, ask God to help you see that good things are ahead. He will light the way to a better day.

Lord, You are my beacon in life’s storms. You are always there when I need You and for that I am forever grateful.

Amaze Jesus This Holiday Season

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.”—Matthew 8:10 (NIV)

During this special time of Advent, reflect on the qualities of selflessness, humility and devotion that please and amaze God. Know that great faith is found by knowing Him and turning to Him in prayer to help others.

Heavenly Father, I long to amaze You!

New Heart for the New Year

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.—Romans 8:18 (NIV)

Happy new year! You made it through 2021—a year filled with unprecedented difficulties and uncertainties. Take a moment and ask God to help you find peace and strength as you start 2022. Fix your eyes on Him.

Perfect Timing

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.—John 1:5 (NIV)

Daylight Savings Time ends today in most areas of the United States. As you change the clocks back, take a moment and reflect on the past year. Remember the many blessings God has given you. Visualize sunlight shining on the glorious moments of your past and see it extending its brilliant rays of light ahead into the future.

Gracious God, Thank You for Your Light; it is filled with the hope of glorious beginnings.

Escape Plan

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.—1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)

God gives us an escape plan from temptation. When you are tempted to do something that you know isn’t right, turn to Him for help. With the power of the Holy Spirit you will have the strength to stand firm.

Heavenly Father, give me the strength to walk away from temptations—and instead walk toward You.

Feel God’s Peace

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.—Philippians 4:7 (NIV)

Not only does the peace of God pass all understanding, it defies all description. When it enters our hearts, old haunting fears give way to feelings of courage and confidence; the restlessness of life is quieted.

Heavenly Father, quiet my mind and calm my troubled heart. Fill me with Your peace.

Little Things

“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’”—Matthew 25:21 (ESV)

The parable of the good and faithful servant stresses the value of little things. Sometimes we think in larger-than-life terms—what grand gesture can I do to show my faith? But this parable reminds you that it is the little things that “Enter into the joy of the Master.”

Dear Lord, guide me to the little things that I can do to please You.

Above and Beyond

Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us.—Ephesians 3:20 (HCSB)

Often Jesus blesses us with more than we can even imagine. As humans, we limit our thinking to the rules of this world, but God’s ways are miraculously limitless. Open your mind and your prayers to His infinite command. Trust that His plan is best.

Heavenly Father, You go above and beyond all that I ask. You work in ways that I could never have imagined.
