Be a Blessing to Others

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.—Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)
For every negative experience there is a positive possibility. When you are down and feeling like things are going against you, take a moment and pray, “God, what can I do to see the good in this? How can I make this right?”
Heavenly Father, train me to make a bad situation better; guide me to see ways to raise my spirit and the spirits of those around me.

A Quiet Yes to God

So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him make himself scarce. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time.—James 4:8 (MSG)
What is your greatest fear? What is holding you back? When you are connected to God you can face your challenges and move beyond them. By sharing breath with Him and aligning your will with His, you will recognize that anything is possible.
Lord, when I pause and focus on You, I empty myself of negative thoughts and return refreshed and renewed.

A Heart Like God’s

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.—Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
Every day you have an opportunity to choose your attitude. When you approach others with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, your actions become centered on God’s love. Look for ways to be a beacon of kindness to someone who needs it.
Father of Compassion, guide me to be patient, gentle and generous. Shape my heart to be more like Yours.

God’s Beautiful Creation

God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.—Genesis 1:27 (KJV)
God created each of us in His own image. The next time you look in the mirror and judge your reflection, think of this verse and see beauty. Be thankful; you were created to look just like God.
Heavenly Father, the next time I am being judgmental and critical of my appearance, guide me to see the beauty and blessings You created in me.

Rock-Solid Promises

For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.—Malachi 3:6 (KJV)
When the world seems cold and chaotic, remind yourself that God will never let you down. His promises are rock solid, and His faithfulness is forever. The best part is He loves you with all His heart.
Lord, every day of this new year is an opportunity for me to experience Your great love.

Turn the Other Cheek

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”—Matthew 5:38–39 (ESV)
Jesus teaches that instead of retaliating when someone wrongs you, forgiveness is a better way. The next time you find yourself wanting to get even with someone, reflect on this verse and rejoice in changing your ways and becoming a better person. When you forgive, your heart grows stronger and your spirit grows by responding to future offenses with mercy and grace.
Dear God, it’s not easy to turn the other cheek, but I am trying my best to forgive as You forgive.

What Good Is It?

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?—Mark 8:36 (NIV)
This verse is a reminder of what happens when you focus on selfish ambitions and pursue material things over your relationship with God. What good is having all the money in the world if you are spiritually bankrupt? If you find yourself putting too much importance on the things you own, turn to this verse and pray for God to right your thinking.
Lord, help me to live generously and trust You with my finances.

The Right Path

Again and again I sent all my servants the prophets to you. They said, “Each of you must turn from your wicked ways and reform your actions; do not follow other gods to serve them. Then you will live in the land I have given to you and your ancestors.” But you have not paid attention or listened to me.—Jeremiah 35:15 (NIV)
Every morning is a fresh start with a new opportunity for you to take the right path. Know that God’s love will support you through whatever challenges you face. When you need help prioritizing your day, check in with Him.
My Father in Heaven, guide me to use my time for things that will have lasting value.

God’s Good Will

The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.—Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV)
Listen to the voice deep in your heart, and be guided by God’s wisdom. Steer away from things that are not in your best interest, even if they are tempting, and make habits and choices that align with your best life.
Heavenly Father, You are my guide. Help me to choose You and to follow Your way.

Travel with Joy

A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”—Isaiah 40:3 (NIV)
When the coming days seem like a desert, barren and vast with no clear path or direction, do not lose hope. Trust in God. Welcome His love into your heart. Feel His presence inside you, and know that because of this, you will be able to travel any journey with joy.
Lord, when I feel hopeless, guide my focus back to You. Lord Jesus, when I feel lost, You save me.
