Celebrate New Life

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!—2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
In many places, the first flowers are beginning to push through the ground: Rejoice that you have been nurturing your spirit with God’s Word in preparation for this season. By receiving His light you have grown strong; continue to follow His guidance to align your will with His.
Lord, I am energized by our relationship—and the incredible power Your guidance has in shaping my mind and guiding my life. Help me to have a heart of complete surrender.

Press Onward to the Finish

Do not neglect your gift…—1 Timothy 4:14 (NIV)
Is there something that God has been calling you to do? Sometimes our dreams are delayed but not denied. Look deep in your heart to see if there is an unfulfilled goal you have given up on—despite gentle nudges from above. Press onward. He will help you develop your gifts.
Gracious God, thank You for instilling desires in me that sometimes seem out of reach. These goals help me not only hone my life’s work, but also develop my spirit through perseverance and patience.

Take Your Trials in Stride

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.—Matt hew 4:1–2 (NIV)
Going through difficult trials is part of walking with the Lord. Jesus’ experience shows us that when God brings us to the wilderness, it’s for an important purpose—and it’s up to us to be strong and courageous, to rely on faith to see us through.
Heavenly Father, every difficult experience teaches me to have endurance, to be steadfast in my faith and to trust that You will lead me to better days.

Nudges from God

But Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and were serving him.—1 Kings 12:8 (NIV)
God gave us His Spirit to nudge us in ways we can’t always explain—a gut feeling, a stranger who says something that directly relates to your problem. When your faith is strong, it becomes easier to notice when the Spirit is leading you.
Lord God, thank You for the creative ways You touch my life and reassure me that I am loved and cared for.

The Rewards of Endurance

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.—Matthew 24:13 (KJV)
No matter how strong your faith, you will always have difficult moments of doubt or times when you feel criticized or misunderstood. When situations like this arise, draw close to God and pray. Ask Him to comfort and reassure you.
Dear Lord, renew my mind with Your right thinking.

Set Your Mind on Things Above

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.—Colossians 3:1–2 (NIV)
As Guideposts founder Norman Vincent Peale said, “You can if you think you can.” No matter how dark things seem, raise your sights and see the possibilities. With God’s help, you can live courageously and victoriously.
Lord, give me the strength and courage to do what You want me to do.

Be Even-Tempered

A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.—Proverbs 19:11 (NIV)
Thomas Fuller wrote, “Two things a man should never be angry at: what he can help, and what he cannot help.” The next time you feel your temper rising, take a deep breath and rise above provocation. Let this verse guide your thinking.
Lord, help me to keep control of my emotions so that I react to upsetting situations with patience and understanding.

Miracles Ahead

“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.”—Mark 11:23 (NIV)
Do unexpected challenges throw you off course? Share your thoughts and concerns with God. Believe in His infinite power to help you. Trust Him to give you the strength to endure and the peace to be content in every circumstance. Don’t doubt or underestimate what He can do.
Heavenly Father, I believe You can move mountains. I am open to receive Your help.

Lenten Check-In

And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.—Isaiah 35:8 (NIV)
How do you feel as you move toward being more fully centered on God’s will? Are you still making the best choices and following through on your commitment to grow closer to God? Take a moment and praise Him for the positive changes happening in your faith and your life.
Lord, keep me moving forward spiritually. Help keep me on the path to holiness.

Pleasing the Lord

On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.—1 Thessalonians 2:4 (NIV)
The next time you have a big decision to make, instead of thinking about yourself or others, focus on pleasing God. Spend quiet time asking Him to guide you. Commit to living your life in a way that honors Him.
Almighty God, You are the center of my life—I trust You with my decisions.

Great Is His Love

For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.—Psalm 57:10 (NIV)
Dwell on this verse until it becomes an unshakeable truth in your life. Build up your spirit, day by day, with the power of God’s presence in your life and His eternal love for you. No matter what happens, nothing can separate you from His love and protection.
Lord, I praise You for Your faithfulness!

Spring in Your Spirit

For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.—Song of Solomon 2:11–12 (ESV)
Today is the first day of spring. Take time to bask in God’s love. Trust that just as nature is blossoming, God’s work is taking root in your life. When you trust Him and nurture your spirit with His Word, peace and contentment will grow and flourish.
Heavenly Father, thank You for spring, when everything is bursting with new life, inspiring me to renew my commitment to You.
