Your God Knows Your Future

Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”—James 4:15 (NIV)
James reminds us that though we might believe we know the future, we are not in control. Planning is necessary, but we run into trouble when we begin to think that we have the power to direct the events of the days ahead.
Lord, I know You have great plans for me. Help me surrender my desire to control things. Help me trust You.

The Light of My Life

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”—John 8:12 (NIV)
Just as the moon illuminates the night sky by reflecting the sun’s light, you too can light up the darkness by reflecting God’s will. When you become a chariot of His divine energy, you radiate His glorious light into the world.
Lord, fill me with Your light so I may shine away the darkness in another’s life.

Your Desired Haven

He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.—Psalm 107:29–30 (NIV)
Scripture teaches us the power of being patient and calm. Things happen in life that are beyond your control, yet you can react knowing that all is well because of your strong faith. Always. He will guide you to your desired haven.
Lord, there is freedom in knowing that despite obstacles, I can calmly move forward because You are beside me.

Get Ready for Your New Thing

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”—Isaiah 43:18–19 (ESV)
Are you looking for a spark to bring a little magic into your life? It is easy to fall into a routine and forget that trying new things—whether traveling to a new city or country, exploring a nearby town or trying a new recipe—can refresh and inspire you. Today, ask God to help you experience something new!
Lord, You have created so many amazing things. Wow me today with something I’ve never experienced.

The Message in Every Moment

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!—Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)
Sometimes it can feel as if you are rushing through life. When you hurry, you miss out on the joy of the moment, and everything can feel out of sync. God never intended for you to strain and stress through life. You are here to nurture your faith, and that means taking on the tasks you need to do in time with the rhythm of your soul.
Almighty Father, help me slow down and fully experience the message and meaning in every moment.

Discerning the Truth

Watch out that no one deceives you.—Mark 13:5 (NIV)
Sometimes people twist the truth or bend Scripture to mean something that doesn’t feel quite right in your heart. When this happens, quiet your thoughts and feel Jesus’ presence. Draw close to Him and rely on His wisdom and guidance to lead you to the true meaning. Center your mind and your heart on Him.
Heavenly Father, I turn to You to help strengthen my discernment. Guide me on the right path.

God’s Eternal Glory

Through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.—Romans 5:2 (NIV)
Let the above verse take root in your heart. God’s glory is eternal—more powerful than we can imagine—and endures forever. Ask for Him to shine His radiant presence in your life. There is no limit to what you can achieve when you seek Him first and foremost.
Glorious God, Your faithfulness is beyond what I can imagine.

Grow into Your Dreams

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.—Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
C. S. Lewis said, “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” It is never too late to be who you want to be. Open your heart to new hopes and dreams. Say goodbye to goals that have become outdated. Let go of beliefs that you have outgrown. Look to the future, knowing that everything is possible with God’s help.
Heavenly Father, remind me that I am never too old to pursue my dreams.

Give Praise to Jesus

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above.—Psalm 148:1 (NIV)
Today praise Jesus for who He is and what He has promised. Like the psalmist in the above verse, turn your attention to praising God. Praise Him because He is worthy and deserving of your love and praise. Even when you are overwhelmed and feel discouraged, praise Him.
Almighty God, I worship You in spirit and truth. I am amazed by Your grace!

Think Good Thoughts

In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable.—Philippians 4:8 (GNT)
Norman Vincent Peale echoed the sentiment in the above Scripture when he wrote “We are either destroyed or made whole by the kind of thoughts we think.” What type of thoughts are you entertaining? The next time you feel overcome with worry or dark thinking, turn to God and bring heavenly light into your life!
Lord, I have the power to control what I think about, and You have the power to turn my darkness into light.

When you feel lost in a situation or unsure of what to do, turn to God. He understands everything about you, your passions and goals, strengths and weaknesses—your purpose! Practice God’s presence by reading His Word and spending time with Him.
Lord God, show me Your paths! Teach me Your ways!

A Grateful Start

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; because this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.—1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (NIV)
In this verse , “thanks” is translated from the Greek word eucharisteo, meaning “to be grateful.” As you just ended the year with thankfulness, begin with gratitude, knowing that as the future unfolds, God’s glorious presence is with you.
Lord, my grateful heart is filled with Your light, which will comfort and guide me through the bright days ahead.
