Glorify God

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.”—Philippians 3:13 (NIV)
The best way to connect with God is to be consistent. Make time for Him every day, and ask for His help in removing any barriers that keep you from Him. Have hope for your future, and strive to keep your spiritual life on track.
Heavenly Father, guide me to use each day to glorify You.

The World Needs Your Light

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.—Matthew 5:16 (ESV)

Pass Tests of Faith

The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.—Psalm 145:9 (NIV)
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale said, “When pain strikes, we often ask the wrong questions, such as, ‘Why me?’ The right questions are, ‘What can I learn from this? What can I do about it? What can I accomplish in spite of it?’ ” Life can be difficult, but when you place your trust in God’s hands, you can embrace life’s trials, knowing that He is transforming you and that your faith will produce the beautiful fruit of endurance.
When I am struggling with heartache and feeling alone, Loving Father, hold me close and comfort me.

Do Good

Turn from evil and do good.—Psalm 34:14 (NIV)
When something bad happens, do you let it ruin the present and the future by dwelling on it? This verse instructs us not just to turn away from evil but to do good. When you encounter negative, difficult people and situations, strive to make things better. Bring love and understanding to the forefront.
Lord, please give me the patience to give thanks for my many blessings, to focus on the good, and to do good in return.

This Is the Way

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”—Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)
Make time to focus on God. Keep silent and enjoy His presence. Let His spirit speak deeply to your heart as He shows you His ways. Listen and trust Him because His answers are always right. He will grow you in holiness and love as he leads you to a life of abundance.
Heavenly Father, I believe in Your power. I put all of my faith in You.

God Works in Dark Times

[Elijah] looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.—1 Kings 19:6 (NIV)
God comes through in times of desperation, giving help to the helpless and hope to the hopeless. When Elijah asked God to take his life, God cared for him and showed that he was not alone. When you feel discouraged, ask for His help. Trust that He will tenderly respond with what you need.
Lord, You are my Savior helping me out of dark times.

Listen to His Voice

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.—John 10:27 (NIV)
When you spend time with God and read His Word, you develop the ability to “hear” His directions and make the right decisions. As your spiritual listening grows, you become attuned to His will and can follow His plan.
Dear Lord, the power of Your Word guides my heart and mind to respond to Your call.

Notice God’s Goodness

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.—Psalm 19:1 (NIV)
The earth is a beautiful place. Yet we often forget to see the sunsets, notice the beautiful symmetry of a flower or appreciate the taste of fresh-picked vegetables and fruits. The world is full of gifts; each is a testimony to His brilliance. Be mindful of His many glorious blessings, and look closely at the greatness around you.
Heavenly Father, I am in awe of Your creation and amazed by Your grace. Thank You for blessing me with spectacular demonstrations of Your love.

When You Feel Like You’ve Let God Down

“God, show mercy to me, a sinner.”—Luke 18:13 (NIV)
God knows the words you will speak before they are on your lips. He also knows the state of your heart. When you feel that you’ve let Him down, asking for His mercy is a perfect place to begin. You can’t change the past, but you can release your regrets to the Lord and begin anew today.
Have mercy on me, Lord. Lift regret from my heart. Help me let go of the past and forgive myself as You have forgiven me.

Experience True Joy

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.—Romans 15:13 (NIV)
19th Century Scottish minister Robert Murray M’Cheyne wrote, “The truest, purest joy flows from the discovery of Jesus Christ. He is the hidden treasure that gives such joy to the finder.” Look for opportunities to connect with Jesus and find joy. Reflect on His love. Believe that His mighty power is at work in your life.
Dear Lord, today, may Your joy flow through me.

Faith Opens the Door

The Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!—Job 42:10 (NLT)
Faith opens the door for God’s restoration and healing. When life takes a complicated turn and you feel alone, look to Job. Despite devastating hardship, Job trusted God’s will for his life. Surrender your desire to control everything, and pray for comfort and peace.
Lord, help me remember that You’re always working in my life. Thank You for filling my future with hope.
