Grow in Patience

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.—Psalm 46:1 (NIV)
How do you cope when you feel frustrated? When stress or strained relationships have you feeling discouraged or helpless, ask for God’s strength. He is always with you. Turn to Him in prayer, and ask to see the situation in a new light. Remember that amid challenging times, God is refining your character—helping you develop patience and empathy.
Lord, I put my trust in You and can move forward with confidence and hope, knowing You are with me every step of the way.

Forgive One Another and Yourself

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.—Matthew 6:14 (NIV)
Forgiveness is essential to your faith and helps you live a healthy, balanced life. Instead of letting anger or resentment tarnish your spirit, reflect on your mistakes, acknowledge your faults and apologize to those you hurt. Ask God to help you embody His forgiveness.
Lord, fill me with compassion and understanding. May Your peace and presence be with me always, and may I reflect Your light in all I do.

Bless the Animals

So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.—Genesis 1:21 (NIV)
Today, many Christians celebrate the Blessing of the Animals. This tradition, attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, is inspired by the belief that all creatures are created by God and worthy of love and prayer. Take a moment and pray for comfort and healing to all of His creatures that need to feel His love.
Lord, bless all the animals and the humans who care for them. May they be patient, kind and compassionate, and find joy in helping Your creatures.

Get to Know God

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.—Psalm 9:10 (NIV)
When you truly know God, you can trust Him completely, because He is always faithful and true to His word. God will never abandon those who seek Him. When you turn to Him wholeheartedly, you can be confident that He will guide you through whatever challenges you face in life.
Dear Lord, I trust Your wisdom and ask that You reveal yourself to me. Fill me with peace and understanding.

Fully Face Your Fear

The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?—Psalm 27:1 (NIV)
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life.” Do you avoid fear at all costs, wasting time and energy running away from your worries? Instead of sidestepping the problem, know that with God at your side, you can fully face and feel your fear. You have the power and are free to walk through your worries and move beyond what is blocking you.
Dear Lord, fill me with Your peace which surpasses all understanding, and help me remain calm and centered on You in the face of fear.

Just for Today

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.—Matthew 6:34 (ESV)
When you feel overwhelmed by a big project or goal, focus on today. What can you do right now that will help you succeed? Then, turn to God and ask for the patience and perseverance to keep moving forward just for today.
Lord, I have faith that I can finish what I start, and the process of working towards my goal is just as important as the result.

Wherever You Go

Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s household, then the Lord will be my God.”—Genesis 28:20–21 (NIV)
Jacob fled his family in fear for his life, and God intervened, letting Jacob know he was loved and cared for. Ask God to fill you with His strength and love. If you do this regularly, your life will be completely changed and you will go from feeling stressed to knowing you are blessed.
Dear Lord, I know You are with me and watch over me wherever I go.

Dream New Dreams

When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.—James 4:3 (NIV)
Sometimes we need to be reminded that prayer is greater than the means to getting what we want. Prayer centers our lives and our focus on God. Trust that He knows your destination in life and will ensure you arrive there.
Lord, if what I’m praying for is not to be, help me to find a new purpose and dream a new dream.

Unshakeable Trust

“They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”—Jeremiah 17:8 (NIV)
The Bible gives many examples of people trusting God in times of waiting. Noah waited for the rain to stop; Rebekah waited for a child. Their faith and patience was rewarded. When you are feeling frustrated by a situation or tired of being patient, pray this verse.
Lord, I am planted in You, and the longer I wait, the deeper my connection and the stronger my roots in You grow.

Learn Something New

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.—Colossians 3:23–24 (ESV)
As children and college students go back to school, you too can reflect on something you want to change or develop. Now is the perfect time to set goals and try something different. Explore a new skill or hobby. Ask God to help you dream new dreams.
Lord, I’m ready to start something new, to discover and develop new talent.

Look to Your Heart

Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.—Luke 21:36 (NIV)
The above verse is a roadmap to safety and salvation. When you are at a crossroads between devotion and desire, what you want and what is best, don’t be led astray by temptation. Look to your heart for what you truly want and what will bring you closest to following God’s will.
Heavenly Father, sometimes I make life more difficult than it really is. Help me look to You first.

Keep on the Right Path

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”—Matthew 7:13–14 (NIV)
When you ask God for help, you cultivate a deeper trust in Him. Abide by His word and avoid the broad road of least resistance; keep on the challenging and rewarding path that leads to glory and everlasting life. The Lord gives generously when you ask for things that are good and in accordance with His will.
Dear Lord, You lift me up and empower me with Your love. I am confident and humble, ready to follow You.
