The Power of Good Judgment
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.—James 1:5 (ESV)
“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”—MATTHEW 6:27 NIV
A father spent months worrying over medical bills while his tiny son battled leukemia. Daily the man cried out to God, but the troubling thoughts never lifted. How could he fight for his son’s life and continue working to pay the mounting medical costs? How could he argue with bill collectors and still keep his cool with his wife and their other children? It all seemed impossible.
We’ve all had times when financial problems seemed to be overwhelming. We’ve all been exhausted by the hours spent working to cover medical bills. We’ve all worried over the time, the energy, and the money that caregiving demands. But you know what? The Lord wants you to hand over those worries to Him.
You won’t add an hour (or even a minute) to your life by fretting. More likely, anxieties left unchecked will weaken you physically—taking a toll on your body and your emotions.
It’s critical to remain healthy and strong to face life’s challenges, and God has a plan for that. He stands by ready to lift your burdens and take away those troubling thoughts. Take a deep breath, hand over those worries, and feel the weight on your shoulders begin to ease.
Let go of the worry and find your strength in God.
Dear Lord, I’m so stressed, so frustrated, so scared. But I know You want me to give my worries to You…and so I choose to do that today. Take them, Father!

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.—Romans 8:25 (NIV)
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”—John 14:27 (NLT)
