The Year of God’s Vision

But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.—Matthew 13:16 (NIV)

As we close the first month of 2021, consider using the year as a personal challenge to instill God’s vision in your life, to see situations and others through His eyes. God’s sight is always perfect—and knowing and following His will prepares you for His unending love and abundance.

Heavenly Father, help me see as You do. Inspire me to live purposefully, seeking Your perfect vision each and every day.

The Power of His Word

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.—2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)

How are you doing with your resolutions? A key to helping you keep control in your life is to keep faith first in your life. Immerse yourself in His word. Tap into His power whenever you feel weak and feel His strength surging through your mind, body and spirit.

Dear God, when I lack self-control, help me find the encouragement I need in the Bible. Guide me to the Scripture that will empower me, guide me and make me be my best.

Seek Higher Ground

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.—Psalm 61:2 (NKJV)

This verse is a reminder that when you feel weary and want to turn your back on God, turn toward Him instead. Share your honest feelings with Him. Complain about your situation. And then, find something to praise Him for.

Lord, when my faith is weak, I promise to seek You and Your truth, knowing that Your promises hold true.

Keep Secrets

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.—Matthew 6:6 (NIV)

Your prayer time with God is private and sacred; whatever you tell Him remains a secret you share. Often in the beginning God’s work within you is hidden, but eventually your spiritual growth will blossom and bear fruit for the world to see.

Dear Lord, I cherish our relationship and trust You wholeheartedly to grace me with Your gifts.

No Reason to Fear

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.—Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

It’s easy to feel the stress of life’s challenges weighing down on you—bad news, financial difficulties, a health issue, even something trivial like a callous comment can throw you off balance. But God deeply cares about everything in your life. Ask Him to reassure you that He is always with you and He will lead you through big and small problems, each and every day.

Lord, when I need a boost of faith, remind me to turn to the Bible; it is full of promises that comfort my heart and keep fear at bay.

Faith in God’s Timing

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.—PSALM 130:5 (NIV)

God’s timing is sometimes different from your own, and waiting on Him and remaining hopeful might seem impossible. If you become weary, turn to the Bible. Remind yourself who God is and why you should continue to hope in Him. Trust as David, the great king of Israel, did in the above verse, and know that God will guide your steps.

Heavenly Father, I know you are faithful to me, and I will be faithful to You, trusting that You hear and always answer my prayers.

A Blessed Future

Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.—Proverbs 4:23 (NCV)

If not, make a commitment to change your thinking. Fill your mind with good, uplifting thoughts and you’ll be amazed at the blessings that follow.

Dear Lord, I pray Psalm 19:14, “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
