[MUSIC PLAYING] “God, grant me favor.” That’s one of my favorite prayers in Scripture is the one Nehemiah prayed to God in the first chapter. He talks about asking God to grant them favor as he goes before the king, because he wants to go back to Jerusalem and be given the time, and the resources, and the opportunity to be of help and support to the people of God in Jerusalem. How many times if I prayed that? More than I can count on one hand over the years.
I prayed it when I’ve been in a job interview. I prayed for God’s favor when I preached in the congregation. I’ve prayed it when I’ve had to teach and lead others, and try to develop a new ministry. “God, grant me favor. See, God granted Nehemiah favor. God has granted me favor throughout the years. May God grant you favor as you move forward and try to purchase a home. Pray that God will grant you favor as you look for a job, and go through an interview, that God will grant you favor as you begin the journey of being a parent to that newborn.
May God help all of us and grant us favor. That’s my favorite prayer. What’s your favorite prayer? There are so many in Scripture. It’s great to turn to Scripture and identify prayer and use it like I do and others do. “God, grant us favor.” Blessings to you.
