Cry for Mercy

Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.—PSALM 28:2 NIV

Do you feel like you bounce back and forth between hospital and home, exhausted by all the doctors’ appointments, procedures, questions, pharmacy visits, and specialist consultations?

All those duties—in addition to the chores of your own life—take a toll. You may be fine for a few days, weeks, or even months. But then, suddenly and for no apparent reason, everything caves in.

You might find yourself crying. You feel like you have nothing left to give. The daily stress of caring for your loved one ends in a pool of tears. “Why, God? Why?” you plead.

That’s okay. Pour out your heart to God, and let the tears flow freely. Share every heartache with him. Then try this: Take a long nap. Let the Lord cleanse and restore you in your sleep. Feel the refreshment and replenishment deep inside. Acknowledge that He is your oasis, the food and refreshment for your inner soul.

In times of despair, call upon God for mercy and help, lifting your hands to the most Holy Place. “Hear, O Jehovah, when I cry with my voice: Have mercy also upon me, and answer me” (Psalm 27:7 ASV).

Heavenly Father, please restore me. Comfort me. I come to You recognizing my weakness, asking You to be my strength as I cry out for mercy.
