Today is Human Rights Day.
In 1950, the United Nations General Assembly declared December 10 to be Human Rights Day—a day in which the world would celebrate the “fundamental proposition in the Universal Declaration that each one of us, everywhere, at all times is entitled to the full range of human rights, that human rights belong equally to each of us and bind us together as a global community with the same ideals and values.”
More than 60 years after this declaration, millions of children and families around the world still struggle to find food, to live in safety and to get medical treatment.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF)
This non-profit charity works to end pediatric HIV and AIDS infection in over 14 countries in the world. Elizabeth Glaser contracted HIV during a blood transfusion while giving birth to her son in 1981. Her daughter contracted the virus through breast milk and died of the virus in 1988, as the drugs available at the time were for adults and not children. Glaser founded EGPAF to conduct pediatric AIDS research before losing her own battle in 1994. EGPAF is now the leading non-profit in pediatric AIDS research, education and prevention in the world.
Prevent Child Abuse America
Since 1972, this organization has been working to prevent child abuse in America. It’s Healthy Families program helps nearly 100,000 families a year. Using 92 cents of every dollar to help directly support healthy families and ensure that children get to have a safe and happy home environment.
