Prayer is a powerful force for good. At Guideposts, we believe in the strength of prayer to bring comfort, hope, and healing. Your generous donation today will help us continue to share the power of prayer with those in need. Together, through prayer and support, we can make a difference.

Thoughts are important. Maybe the most important thing of all, for they lead to actions and, ultimately, consequences. So if you want to have a faith-filled, successful life, begin with what you think about.

The Bible tells us that as a man “thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). God knows all about what’s on you mind; nothing is hidden from Him. “The LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts” (1 Chronicles 28:9). “The LORD knows the thoughts of man” (Psalm 94:11).

So what should you think about, fill your mind with? The answer is simple: Jesus. He understands you. He is aware that in all people good and evil are always at war. He knows that even in wanting the good we are still attracted to the bad. He is perfectly aware of the struggle incessantly taking place in that unseen battlefield, the human mind.

The great first thing to keep saying to yourself is, “Jesus loves me.” Remember that old hymn of childhood, “Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so.” That old song tells the truth. How much does Jesus love us? “He laid down his life for us” (1 John 3:16).

When doubts and indecisions pile up, and you think you cannot ever become the kind of person you want to be, with the kind of faith you want to have, remember that Jesus will see you through, for He loves you. He promised, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).

Many years ago, a great Christian scholar by the name of Henry Drummond suggested that if you think of Jesus even for two minutes every day, the whole day will be different. So sit down, close your eyes and for two minutes think of nothing else, only Jesus.

It really is futile to fill your mind with worries and selfish ambitions, to dwell on your weaknesses and doubts. Jesus is the one who will bring you joy and contentment and, ultimately, salvation. He tells us, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no one comes unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).

So keep Jesus in your thoughts. Try to hear His voice spiritually and touch His hand. Read Jesus’ words in the Bible and visualize yourself right there, sitting at His feet, soaking up everything He says. Keep following after Him and unshakable faith will come.
