Someone Watching Over You

Norman Vincent Peale offers Bible verses to turn to for comfort and reassurance of God’s love.

Whatever your circumstances, you can be sure that God watches over you. Because he loves you, and since God himself is love, you can be confident that you are never out of his sight or his loving concern. In fact, the Bible assures us that God’s “compassions never fail. They are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22-24). Remind yourself of this daily!

Thank God constantly for watching over you and protecting you. In every difficult situation, thank him for seeing you through. List on paper the times in your life you have experienced God’s providential care. That list will be so impressive that it will deepen your faith.

Deuteronomy 33:27 tells us, “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Visualize your loved ones as being protected by the everlasting arms and supported by the great hand of God. In this way, you will be sending out protecting thoughts that God will use for their protection. Help God to protect your loved ones and yourself.

Committing to memory some of the Bible passages that deal with the protective love of God will bring you great comfort when you are confronted with life’s uncertainties. Here are a few to get your started:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

“Cast all your anxiety on him [God] because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6-7).

“If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast” (Psalm 139:9-10).
