Where Do You Like to Pray?

I keep wanting to add a prayer to 10 Prayers, an expression of praise and wonder when I see a beautiful view like this one…

Prayer is a powerful force for good. At Guideposts, we believe in the strength of prayer to bring comfort, hope, and healing. Your generous donation today will help us continue to share the power of prayer with those in need. Together, through prayer and support, we can make a difference.

I’m here in St. Louis at the International Christian Retail Show to promote 10 Prayers You Can’t Live Without. First thing in the morning, as always, I went on a morning jog in the city. Wow. What an amazing view of the mighty Mississippi in morning light.

I keep wanting to add a prayer to 10 Prayers, one that’s not very long, simply an expression of praise and wonder. “Wow” or “Awesome” or “What a sight.” That’s what I feel when I see a beautiful view like this one.

Then inside the convention center I signed copies of 10 Prayers and met tons of great people. I like to ask readers, while I’m scrawling their name and my name on the title page, “What’s your favorite place to pray?” Here are some of their answers:

“In my car on my way to work.”

“In the kitchen when I’m cooking.”

“At the kitchen table. One side of the table I use for work but the other side is for prayer. When I sit there I’m ready to pray.”

“A big comfortable chair in our bedroom.”

“We’ve just moved, so I haven’t found the perfect place to pray in our new house, but in our old house it was on the sofa in the living room.”

“Everywhere. I like to pray everywhere. I talk to God so much I wonder if he ever gets tired of listening. I tell him everything.” (I told her I didn’t think God got tired of listening. I never get tired of listening to my kids.)

“In my office. At my computer.”

“Outside. I love to pray when I walk.”

“In my bed when I’m falling asleep and first thing in the morning when I wake up.”
