Meditate on His Promises

My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises.—Psalm 119:148 (NIV)
When you need stability, focus on God’s desires instead of your worries. Allow Him to speak to you through Scripture. Fill your heart with His limitless potential. He is at your right hand, and you will not be shaken.
Almighty God, You are my stronghold. I will rest in You and be secure.

Center Your Heart

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.—Psalm 37:5–6 (NIV)
When you center your heart on God, you can be sure that He will guide you in countless ways. If you require His guidance, pray: “Lord, you know my troubles. Guide my thinking and help me do things Your way.”
Dear Lord, thank You for Your guidance and direction.

A Prayer to Embrace Change

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.—Ephesians 4:22–24 (NIV)
God has a plan for your life that includes growth and change. Yet many of us resist and fear anything different—even when it’s a move toward something better. God pushes us forward into new and sometimes uncomfortable situations. Be open to opportunity, and place God’s plan before yours.
Heavenly Father, I will seek Your will and Your ways for my life.

God Is All You Need

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”—Luke 12:15 (NIV)
True richness comes from your relationship with God. God wants you to be content not through belongings, but in Him. When you feel envious of others and wish you had what they have, focus on the blessings in your life. God is everything you’ll ever need!
Heavenly Father, give me a heart of gratitude that recognizes that You bless me beyond measure.

His Incomprehensible Love

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”—Luke 23:34 (NIV)
God sent His only Son to give us the gift of salvation. Because of His great love, you do not have to dwell on your past mistakes and failures. His passion is bigger than the pain of your sins. He will heal your broken pieces and replace them with His peace.
Lord, nothing can separate me from Your love. Your power to forgive is limitless! Thank You for Your mercy.

God Has No Favorites

My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism.—James 2:1 (NIV)
Every single person is important in God’s eyes. Each one of us is created in His image. The next time you are tempted to judge someone, reflect on this verse and ask God to help you share your love equally and abundantly.

The Faith to Face Uncertainty

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.—Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV)
Moses encouraged his people to be calm in the face of chaos. Take this Scripture to heart. God goes with you. He has blessed you with gifts to serve others and further His kingdom. Because of His strength and provision, you can face the uncertainties ahead.
Father God, You are my solid rock. Help me trust and rely on Your strength.

Release Your Fear of Failure

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.—2 Corinthians 4:16–17 (NIV)
Norman Vincent Peale said, “Fear can infect us early in life until eventually it cuts a deep groove of apprehension in all our thinking. To counteract it, let faith, hope and courage enter your thinking. Fear is strong, but faith is stronger yet.” God wants you to let go of your desire to be perfect. Instead, He desires that you learn from your mistakes and work toward being better every day. Striving for perfection will not make you great, but not giving up—will!
Lord, help me release my fear of failure and go boldly forward.

Who Do You Say He Is?

Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?”—Luke 9:18 (NIV)
Preacher and author Frederick Buechner wrote, “A Christian is one who points at Christ and says, ‘I can’t prove a thing, but there’s something about His eyes and His voice. There’s something about the way He carries His head, His hands, the way He carries His cross—the way He carries me.’” Today, put your total trust in Him.
Dear Jesus, I know that You are the Christ!

Your God Knows Your Future

Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”—James 4:15 (NIV)
James reminds us that though we might believe we know the future, we are not in control. Planning is necessary, but we run into trouble when we begin to think that we have the power to direct the events of the days ahead.
Lord, I know You have great plans for me. Help me surrender my desire to control things. Help me trust You.

The Light of My Life

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”—John 8:12 (NIV)
Just as the moon illuminates the night sky by reflecting the sun’s light, you too can light up the darkness by reflecting God’s will. When you become a chariot of His divine energy, you radiate His glorious light into the world.
Lord, fill me with Your light so I may shine away the darkness in another’s life.
